“Steamer Lane” 201
Just about everyday for the last 20 yrs or so I would go out to Steamer Lane on West Cliff in Santa Cruz, CA and watch the waves, people, sea life, weather and surfers. This image is ingrained in my head so one day I finally put it on paper. Around the same time I was building an outdoor kitchen and wanted to make a nice big tile piece that would go well with it. It was pretty extensive and at one point I thought I bit off more than I could chew but in the end I was pleased on how it came out. When doing this many colors and this many tiles it’s important to keep track of the process which made it tricky because I only was able to print on my “free” time. Trying to remember the exact amount of passes and pressure for each tile was insane. Needless to say the over all project took well over 5 months to complete. Luckily it will literally last forever.
